Job summary

Increase business development sales of our client's solutions and related services to our prospective and existing customers. The Sales team is looking for a Business Development Manager for the automotive industry to join us. In this role, you will work closely with the Sales team. You'll participate in strategic account planning sessions, strategic marketing reviews, and deal-specific planning calls to determine the best way to increase our client's competitive position in the industry. To do this successfully, you will create internal business partnerships with our Field Sales team, alliances, and partners. As a Business Development Manager, you will also work at the customer site to engage executives and leaders in the automotive industry, identify their needs, and recommend the most appropriate solutions from our client's portfolio. Successful applicants must reside in a state where our client is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Strategically promote new automotive business to target accounts within your sales territory by building deep knowledge of customer business priorities, challenges, and initiatives
  • Enable efficient, quality proposals for customers by ensuring appropriate needs definition and by analyzing customer environments and expectations
  • Work with the Field Sales team to assist in promoting our client to our automotive customers using deep knowledge of the automotive industry and how to relate that to our solutions portfolio
  • Understand our client's solutions and offerings and how customers can use those in their businesses
  • Respond to existing and prospective customer requests for proposals (RFPs)
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales targets

Required skills

  • 12+ years of sales experience and executive background in the automotive industry
  • 5+ years of experience working in the automotive industry with a technology or consulting organization
  • 10+ years of successful software sales experience, with 3+ of those years selling complex solutions and services
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate software solutions to solve complex industry issues
  • Experience calling on a variety of accounts, ranging from major and national accounts to mid-sized and small firms
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical training
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
