Job Description

Our Client has the potential to make a huge swath of private investing more transparent, more efficient, and more ethical.  We’re building a single platform that unifies hundreds of portfolio and market data systems and leveraging that platform to create robust, powerful financial applications. The problems we’re tackling are complex and globally important.

The technical effort involved to build a fast, scalable and reliable platform are massive.  Engineers at our client build portfolio data ingestion systems that process tens of millions of transactions across millions of accounts every day, and pricing and reference data systems that provide coverage for over a trillion dollars in assets. We build and run our own distributing serving and financial calculation framework that allows clients to run complex analysis of massive data sets in real time. We design robust APIs and powerful, versatile user interfaces to empower wealth managers to ask nuanced questions about their clients' holdings.

Our newest product, Insights, is building data-driven tools and analytics to help our clients make better investment decisions, and an order management and execution platform to provide access to a wide range of investment products. This is an exciting new business for Our Client with high growth potential that is still in early stages of development.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer and entrepreneur who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys the challenge of building a new venture within an existing high growth company. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new, highly visible team at the ground level.

Our engineering team works in Java, Python, and JavaScript, but we don’t require prior experience with any specific tool set. Great software engineers can pick up new languages on the job. More than checking the boxes on specific technologies, we're looking for driven engineers with real technical depth and a desire to understand the end business. We want people who are passionate and care deeply about the success of the whole company.

The problems we’re tackling at Our Client are complex, but they’re also globally important. Our Client has the potential to make a huge swath of private investing more transparent, more efficient, and more ethical. If you’re interested in that, we’re excited to meet you.

Requirements

  •
    • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or similar technical field of study (or equivalent practical experience.).
    • 5+ years’ experience as a professional software engineer.
    • A passion for implementing best practices and a bias toward smart automation.
    • Proven ability to collaborate with and mentor other engineers.
    • Experience building massively distributed systems, modeling financial data, or building intuitive, feature-rich user interfaces.
    • Experience building large-scale financial applications.
Our Client is a leading provider of technology for the wealth management industry. The company’s performance reporting and analytics platform aggregates portfolio, market, and client data all in one place. It provides asset owners and advisors a clearer financial picture at every level, allowing them to make more informed and timely investment decisions. Our Client works with leading financial advisors, family offices, and large financial institutions that manage over $1.3 trillion of assets on the company’s platform. In 2018, Our Client was named as a Forbes Fintech 50 and received Morgan Stanley's Fintech Award for making significant impact to the firm’s mission of continuous innovation. Our Client is headquartered in Silicon Valley and has offices in New York City, Chicago, and Salt Lake City.
