Why it Matters: The quality team’s mission will be to ensure our technology is of the highest quality for our readers and clients every day. The quality team will integrate tightly into our cross-functional product teams to refine requirements for our products and to ensure the systems delivered line up.

Go Deeper: The Director of Quality Engineering’s responsibility is to ensure Quality Engineering team is effective and helps our squads deliver high-quality products. Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Build, develop, and grow Quality Engineering teams
  • Work with leaders in Tech and Product to understand risk tradeoffs and discuss alternate strategies
  • Provide domain expertise in methods of ensuring and maintaining quality products
  • Work tightly with other leaders in Tech and Product to ensure alignment and focus

The Details: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for our mission and have the following skills:

  • 10+ years in Software Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering
  • 5+ years testing web applications
  • 5+ years leading other Quality Engineers
  • Experience writing test automation
  • Experience testing in an Agile environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptionally collaborative
  • Obsessive attention to detail

We’ll be even more excited if you have:

  • Worked in environments using Ruby, Python, Node and/or Javascript
  • Experience testing services and working with Docker containers
  • The ability to set up test environments, deploy code, use the command line
  • Experience working in a Continuous Integration environment
