The Role:

Our client  is looking for a senior engineering leader to build and lead a platform engineering team. This role is vital to the future of our company and will be a technically-engaged, high-visibility position focused on initiatives related to the efficient operation and growth of our content library. It encompasses aspects of business growth such as search engine optimization (SEO) and conversion rate optimization (CRO), and processing millions of unique user-supplied documents.

Here are some ways you'll make an impact:

  • You'll provide inspirational leadership for an engineering group.
  • You'll recruit, hire, and retain top-notch engineering managers and individual contributors.
  • You'll translate business objectives into actionable development plans.
  • You'll act as a product partner, providing insight on cost alternatives and possibilities in the product that others may not see.
  • You'll ensure that development projects have sound technical architecture and use appropriate technology for a product with millions of customers and consumer web-scale traffic.
  • You'll help us migrate our web monolith into a microservice platform.
  • You'll drive acceleration of product development through the use of delivery and health metrics, monitoring, and KPIs.
  • You'll champion product quality and the role of automated testing.
  • You'll improve our technical brand internally and externally.

Are you our Director of Engineering - Platform?

  • You have 10+ years working in software product development, with an emphasis on developing and operating large distributed systems.
  • You have a strong entrepreneurial drive and desire to achieve big things.
  • You have finely-tuned technical and architectural skills for software development.
  • You have experience with microservices architecture.
  • You have experience building and managing teams of 15 or more engineers.
  • You have experience hiring and mentoring managers.
  • You have experience working with teams using machine learning.
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent practical experience.

This position reports to Course Hero’s VP Engineering - Core Products.
