Data Engineer (Consultant)

We have been evolving our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) over the past few years and are looking for an individual who will help us enhance the system. Our data warehouse needs to be the single source of truth when it comes to financial data produced throughout the firm. You will be an integral part of the team, responsible for helping to build and improve our ETL, database design, BI architecture, and tools.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop the core of the EDW / Enterprise Data Service
  • Develop and enhance Enterprise data model to move the data landscape in the strategic direction
  • Work cross-functionally with various teams, creating solutions that deal with large volumes of data
  • Work with other members of the team to ensure data is ingested, curated/standardized, stored, and managed properly to support firm needs

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional Database development experience
  • 5+ years of professional Data Modeling experience
  • Experience with scripting like Python or Perl
  • Experience in migrating or creating data warehouses in AWS utilizing the following tools: EC2, S3, EMR, Athena and Redshift is a plus
  • Highly analytical with good problem solving skills and creativity; able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive individual with strong communication skills; able to interface well with users and other development teams
  • Self-driven individual with an ability to work under pressure

Skills Desired

  • Experience with Oracle is a plus
  • Understanding of financial services instruments is a huge plus
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development
  • Experience with Tableau or comparable Business Intelligence tools is a plu
